As a kid, I was captivated by the magic of theme and amusement parks. Each visit was an adventure etched into my memory. Then whenever I returned home, I’d relive the thrill by drawing coasters in my notebooks or playing Rollercoaster Tycoon. I watched Travel Channel shows on the top amusement parks and water parks in the country.
My ultimate childhood dream was to visit every major theme/amusement park in the USA.
But as life’s distractions took hold, that dream faded into the background.
It wasn’t until 2023, as I planned my first trip to Disney World in two decades, that the spark reignited. By exploring the vibrant online community of theme park enthusiasts, I realized my dream didn’t have to remain a nostalgic memory.
Now my ambition has evolved. I’m determined to experience as many theme parks as possible around the world.
My love for the parks started young – with Coney Island’s Astroland and PA’s Sesame Place when I was under 5 years old. My love for parks grew as my family took annual trips to Busch Gardens/Water Country USA and then took our big trip to Disney World when I was 7 years old. At 9 years old, I hit a huge milestone. I was tall enough to ride my first “big kid’s coaster” – Great Bear at Hersheypark.
Before the age of 13, I’d continue to explore Dorney Park, Six Flags Great Adventure, Universal Orlando, 2 more trips to Disney World, and Six Flags America.
Over the years, I’d continue making my way slowly through more parks – Kings Dominion, Knotts Berry Farm, Carowinds, additional trips to Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood – but nowhere near as frequent as I wanted.
I put a majority of my theme park goals to the backburner and a different hobby took over. I’ve always been drawn to the art of cooking and indulging in culinary adventures. Even if it meant watching Food Network or reading restaurant menus to pass the time.
While at home, I tend to cook most of my food and eat minimally processed meals. I’ve been following a mostly gluten-free diet since 2013 and mostly pescatarian one since 2022. But when I visit the parks, all bets are off.
There, I eat anything I want when I want and I rarely ever feel ill. There is just something about eating at the parks that makes it so delightful.
So if you like food and you like parks, I’m glad you’re here! Join me as I rediscover the magic of childhood dreams and savor the flavors of adventure at every turn.
